Position Summary

Central Rent-A-Crane, located in Fairland is seeking a Service Manager to provide leadership and supervision to a staff of Service Technicians and Mechanics. This is a full-time, exempt position with comprehensive benefits package.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises subordinate employees by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job contributions; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy shop environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
  • Oversee the activities of subordinate employees with the proper service, repair and maintenance of heavy lift equipment and heavy duty trucks.
  • Ensure the service shop is organized in a manner that maximizes efficiency and productivity.
  • Define goals for the department and then ensures they are met.
  • Coordinate with Dispatch Department to ensure service activities align with job schedules.
  • Monitor and maintain all service department equipment.
  • Responsible for the preventive maintenance program for all equipment.
  • Manage running costs and maintenance overheads.
  • Review, analyze and track maintenance measures.
  • Inventory management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Must have experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction equipment, crane and lift equipment a definite plus.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work 40 hours a week and overtime as needed.
  • Able to use phone, computer and other office equipment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Experience with NextGen maintenance software is a plus.
