Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
Manages the Maintenance Department facility by supervising daily work, schedules, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Also provides technical support through training and troubleshooting to maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Organizes and coordinates department personnel, functions, and activities including mechanical, electrical, and Mobile Equipment fleet vehicles assigned to the Maintenance Department.
• Provides technical support by training and troubleshooting to maintenance and manufacturing personnel. Ensure that all department safety practices are followed. Maintains good employee relations.
• Interprets operational manuals, manufacturer's specifications, blueprints, and schematics for manufacturing and auxiliary equipment.
• Provides guidance and shares knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatics, machining, and fabrication by phone or on the plant side
• Assigns and supervises daily work schedules of all department personnel. Maintains employee records pertaining to vacations, absenteeism, OT, weekly timesheet, etc.
• Manages CMMS and supervises CMMS point person.
• Create and Manage PM, Work order system, spare part inventory program, and track results
• Initiates Continuous Improvement programs
• Remains current on all OSHA, Arc Flash, and LO/TO procedures and updates as required
• Responsible for the productivity of the Maintenance.
• Conducts all supervisory responsibilities concerning hiring, counseling and discipline, performance, appraisal, and assigning/prioritizing work for all subordinates.
• Leads and directs around-the-clock activities of subordinate supervisors, clarifying and coordinating tasks and providing the individual coaching and support needed to keep team members committed to the achievement of defined goals.
• Responsible for maintaining a high standard of housekeeping practices in all areas under his supervision.
• Provides contract and supervision for security and janitorial services for the entire plant.
• Manages a vendor base to ensure quality product availability while minimizing costs and maintaining the highest service levels to the plant. Includes operating supplies, repair and maintenance support, and services.
• Manages storeroom supplies related to R&M.
• Manages procurement activity of repair and maintenance goods and services via requisitions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• The ideal candidate for this position will have production supervision experience
• Experience working within a union environment
• A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
• Steel, Aluminum, or heavy industrial production environment experience preferred
• Critical thinking skills
• Minimum 2 years' manufacturing maintenance experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Good leadership, technical, and troubleshooting skills
• Proactive with the ability to take initiative; excellent time-management skills
• Excellent verbal and communication skills
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, and working on a computer
• Must be able to access and navigate the organizations facilities
