OverviewAs the Development Specialist you will deliver proactive, responsive support to the Director of Development and work closely with other colleagues across the organization to advance fundraising and strategic communication objectives. This is a great opportunity to gain experience with fundraising principles and strategic communications.
Responsibilities
  • Donor relations: Responds to inquiries from members and donors, exercising judgement and discretion in providing exemplary customer service.
  • Gift processing: Responsible for gift processing, including the data entry of monetary and non-monetary gifts, recording pledges, reviewing donor accounts for accuracy, and appropriate relationship recording.
  • Database management: Maintains the accuracy and integrity of our donor database, including de-duplicating, by ensuring that all information is kept current and up to date. Troubleshoots database issues. .
  • Reporting: Works with the Director of Development to produce revenue reports, gift reports, mailing lists, and donor lists.
  • Grants management: Maintains files and documentation on application materials and reports. Assists in monitoring report deadlines and payment schedules.
  • Donor communications: Assists in drafting and editing print and digital donor communications, including, but not limited to direct mail, website pages, donor acknowledgements, and e-blasts.
  • Events management: Assists in planning and managing the logistics of event series, third-party fundraising events, membership drives and members-only events.
  • Administrative support: Demonstrates integrity and discretion in completing high-level tasks related to donor relations, and other assigned duties.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of clerical support/admin experience
  • 1+ year of customer service and data management
  • Experience with a nonprofit or community-based organization
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite + CRMs
  • Strong writing + grammar skills
  • Professional communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task + problem solve
  • Excellent attention to detail

Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00AM - 5:00PM)
Compensation: $24.00 + Hourly based on experience
