SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Specialist performs duties in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, orientation, onboarding, and recruiting. It requires an extremely perceptive person who relates to individuals at all levels. This role must be sensitive to the needs of employees and utilize policies, rules and employment laws appropriately - for the good of all - not punitively. This role reports to the Head of HR and works with the HR team to support all HR functions. Must be able to work in a team and independently, without constant supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Tracks open positions and works with the hiring managers to create job postings and job descriptions. Places ads and manages recruiting vendors and activities.
  • Conducts pre-screening interviews; schedules interviews with hiring managers.
  • Works with managers and supervisors to assess candidates; provides expertise and feedback; writes offer letters and organizes onboarding activities.
  • Manages the New Hire Orientation program; follows up with new hires.
  • Sends performance reviews to managers.
  • Develops relationships with organizations to build hiring pipeline (tech schools, high schools, etc.)
  • Coordinates training and development activities, tracks new hire training and performance reviews. Recommends training or alternative positions for employees whose performance does not meet company expectations.
  • Lives and demonstrates General Fasteners core values of humility, dedication, compassion, trust, and integrity.
  • Leads the planning and executing of service awards, retirements, and special events.
  • Assists with other HR functions and tasks

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. .


TRAVEL:

Travel is expected; approximately 15%, to locations such as Charlotte, North Carolina; Elkhart, Indiana; McAllen and Garland, Texas; Chillicothe and Hebron, Ohio; Evans, Georgia; Madison Heights, Utica and Portage, Michigan.
