Summary/Objective

The Permitting Project Manager is responsible for coordinating all buildings permitting activities and plans. Duties include applying for permits with the respective municipalities, compiling, updating, and maintaining reports, maintaining files, etc.

Job Responsibilities

Permitting:

  • Prepare and review any plan packages for submittal and review for accuracy
  • Complete building permit applications based on construction schedule
  • Coordinate and secure the payment method to accompany additional permit applications
  • Deliver building permit applications to responsible municipality department and pick up when ready
  • Compile construction related documents from Engineers and/or Architects to facilitate the permit application process
  • Deliver permits to applicable project superintendent
  • Submit building related permit applications and construction documents to municipal building departments
  • Copy and maintain all building related permitting documents ensuring that organization staff members have necessary documents
  • Compile all paperwork necessary to complete house closings
  • Prepare, deliver and pick up additional permit applications for utilities or other services such as Electric Power, sewer service and water service requests for all properties
  • Support the Construction Department with all administrative duties including upload and maintenance of all permit documents, including plans, specifications, surveys, etc. in the software management PROCORE
  • Prepare and distribute approved plans, specifications and notes to Construction Managers, contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors/suppliers

Competencies:

  • Minimum of 1 year of permitting experience required
  • Experienced with single/multi-family permitting preferred
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry preferred
  • Strong organizational and management skills, ability to prioritize and take initiative
  • Must be able to read blueprints and plot plans
  • Must be detailed-oriented team player comfortable working is a fast-paced environment with heavy volume workload
  • Advanced PC skills Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent follow-up, communication (written and verbal) and time management skills
  • Able to professionally perform multiple detail-oriented tasks with simultaneous deadlines
  • Attends and participates in required HfHPWPC meetings
  • Ability to travel to all local permitting offices in Pinellas and West Pasco counties
  • Assists in preparations for special events, storm and disaster plan if implemented
  • Other duties as delegated


Hours of Work

The full time Permitting Project Manager works forty hours per week. Typical hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, although flexibility is necessary for field work, evening meetings, and preparation for special events. Permitting Project Manager is sometimes required to work on weekends when requested and needed.

  • Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and being able to communicate effectively.   • Education: High School Equivalent, Associates Degree preferred
  • Certification & Licensure Requirements: Must have valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record with reliable transportation. Must be able to drive Habitat’s vehicles
  • Pre-Requisite Requirements: Ability to pass Criminal Background check, Drug Screening and Sexual Offender Check
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, donors, volunteers, and the general public. Ability to speak English fluently and possess English written skills - Bi-lingual not required, definitely a plus
  • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Computer/Equipment Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and PROCORE
