SUMMARY

The Business Development Associate is responsible for supporting the day-to-day needs of current and emerging clients for iuvo. This role is responsible for replying to website inquiries, setting up and executing new client calls, replying to current client requests, generating, sending, and following up on quotes, updating the client relationship management system (CRM) and Smartsheet system, hosting on-site client visits and client tours as needed or assigned, and trade show attendance, participation, and engagement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a commercial client business contact for proposal requests, follow-up, tracking, feedback, etc. (including new leads via the website, email, phone lines, etc.).
  • Prepare quotes, including standard price list and custom quotes.
  • Work with appropriate operations team members to generate proposals and ensure timely delivery and regular follow-up communications with customers.
  • Update CRM and Smartsheet for leads and quoting. Continue CRM and Smartsheet updates through to close of opportunity.
  • Work in conjunction with the Sales Team and the Operations Teams to resolve any customer issues.
  • Solicit and track customer feedback using company systems. Communicate feedback to Sales and Marketing management.
  • Participate with the Sales and Marketing Team to provide input to the sales and marketing plan, including but not limited to messaging, website updates, communication plan, marketing plan, blog posts, etc.
  • Attend trade shows as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree (preferably chemistry, toxicology, microbiology, biology or equivalent). Minimum 3-5 years in the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical device testing related to ISO10993 and pharmaceutical testing related to ISO10993 and USP, chemistry-specific experience preferred. The candidate will have experience in a customer-facing role with business development and sales.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or equivalent. CRM experience preferred or experience with other online data management tools.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must have well-developed interpersonal communication skills, and ability to interact with technical and non-technical customers in person, by phone and by email. Strong communication skills, ability to customize communication style and approach depending on audience (scientist vs. procurement vs. executive) to develop the business. Must have excellent spelling, grammar and writing skills. Must have the ability to speak effectively before customers, individually and in groups, and employees and senior management. Familiarity with scientific terminology required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Strong mathematical skills required, including high accuracy in basic calculations and ability to perform calculations required for analyzing business opportunities.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Expert ability to read and interpret documents and reports, strong analytical skills. Ability to interact with consulting customers professionally to resolve issues and drive timelines to accomplish key deliverables. Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
