UGT is looking for a Civil/Structural Engineer Subject Matter Expert for our client based in Richland, Washington.

This is an onsite, 4-day Work Week role.

In this role, you will bring expertise in support code compliance, design guidance, and reviews of alternate designs.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide discipline design and technical reviews of new designs, major facility modifications, and other technical documents as required by procedures and as requested.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, assess, and interpret assigned discipline-specific processes, procedures, and standards for application to TOC engineering work.
  • Keep current with and assess changes to Department of Energy (DOE), national, and industry consensus codes and standards applicable to their discipline and as assigned.
  • Effectively influence practitioners across the Tank Operating Contract (TOC) in the disciplined conduct of their specific subject matter
  • Represent TOC and make authoritative technical recommendations in respect of their discipline.
  • Maintain technical competence and stay current with tools, methodologies, and standards relevant to their respective discipline.
  • Support operations and project delivery in the identification of appropriate discipline-specific design input and engineering processes, procedures, and standards to be used for the delivery of engineering work.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external SMEs and the supply chain and augment in-house subject matter expertise when required to deliver TOC scope.
  • Sponsor and/or lead discipline-specific process improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate, train, and advise the organization on discipline-specific technical requirements and issues.
  • Promote and facilitate best practices and the sharing of discipline-specific learning across the TOC.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Related Engineering Degree is Required
  • Minimum of 12 years experience in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Currently certified as a Registered Professional Engineer (PE), ideally in the State of Washington.
  • Extensive knowledge of and proficiency in applicable orders, codes, and standards with emphasis on piping and vessel design, including ASME B31 series, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code.
  • Extensive knowledge of both design and testing requirements per code.
  • Experience with nuclear safety analysis and safety basis process.
  • Experience of analysis to prevent water hammer damage to piping systems.
  • Experience with B31 Unlisted Component evaluations.
  • Experience with fluid flow and thermal analysis problems.
  • Knowledge of piping system analysis software, including AutoPipe.
  • Prior experience with TOC procedures and standards.
  • Experience with Hose-in-Hose Transfer Lines (HIHTL) design, operation, and disposal.
  • Experience as an ASME code committee member

Additional Information

  • The work shift will be 6 am to 430pm Monday through Thursday.
