We are seeking an Administrative Assistant for a church located on the South Side of Chicago. The Administrative Assistant is often the first person of contact for members and visitors via phone, email, or in person. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing clerical and administrative tasks, as well as overseeing the overall functions and activities of the church.
Position Details
Location: On-Site South Side Chicago
Time Type: Full-time
Pay: $18-20/hr
Schedule: M-F 9am-5pm
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Screen and route all incoming calls. Provide general information on the church and events. Relay messages and information internally according to established procedures.
- Perform all duties professionally whether greeting and assisting, or directing visitors, guests, and the general public.
- Monitor church email accounts and respond or redirect inquiries per instructions.
- Order and maintain office supplies and equipment
- Pick up, distribute, and disseminate all mail and correspondence
- Coordinate schedules for weddings, baptisms, and other events.
- Schedule and attend major meetings and record minutes (if requested).
- Routine filing of paperwork. Maintain a filing system in an organized manner.
- Prepare new member information packets and input information into the membership database.
- Coordinate employee meetings, lunches, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Extreme attention to detail
- Efficient and organized with the ability to take initiative.
- Interpersonal skills that enable effective collaboration with other staff members.
- Computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office and Google applications.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Experience:
- 2 or more years’ experience in an administrative role.
- Experience in church environment a plus
Education:
- High School diploma or GED required.
