Position Summary:

The Chief Lending Officer (CLO) is responsible for leadership, management, operational excellence, as well as growth and profitability in the lending area. As a key member of the Bank’s executive management team, the CLO is integral to the Bank’s overall performance and strategic execution.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Serves as a principal advisor on all issues associated with lending strategies and risk management

• Provides critical leadership for the Bank’s lending team through consistent communication, collaboration, and employee development

• Leads strategic efforts related to the Bank’s lending function, including developing and implementing products and services, and is a key contributor to the Bank’s broader strategic goals

• Maximizes portfolio growth through effective planning, development, and implementation of lending strategies designed to retain valued customers and gain new business

• Oversees the performance, compliance, and safety and soundness of the Bank’s loan portfolio by monitoring key performance indicators, mitigating loan risks, and making recommendations in regard to the Bank’s various policies

• Possesses a strong knowledge of bank management principles, such as interest rate risk and regulatory frameworks, and shares responsibility in financial oversight and Bank-wide performance

• Develops and maintains relationships with stakeholders, including customers, community representatives, vendors and partners, participant banks, and industry groups

• Serves as a visible leader within the community, participating in various civic events and groups on behalf of the Bank

• Manages the performance of reporting personnel – among other duties, ensuring that loan delinquency levels are within tolerance, monitoring production performance, and enforcing the Bank’s various policies and procedures

• Serves on and attends various committees within the bank – including Senior Officer Loan Committee, Board of Directors Loan Committee, Executive Committee, and Asset Liability Committee

• Oversees loan pricing, responsible for maintaining a profitable pricing strategy and satisfactory margin

• Familiar with government related lending program entities, such as the FSA and SBA, and oversees the Bank’s program participation and good-standing where appropriate

• Identifies inefficiencies throughout the lending function and works with appropriate teammates to improve and continuously evolve our processes, for the benefit of the customer’s experience as well as internal productivity


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related course of study

• Minimum 10 years of experience in banking

• Supervisory experience desired, which includes coaching and staff development

• Strong management and leadership skills

• Exceptional understanding of loan underwriting and credit analysis

• Proficient verbal and written communication skills

• Expert knowledge of new business development and relationship management skills

• Self-motivated and possesses ability to make strong independent decisions

• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail

• Proficient in MS Office Suite, and experienced with various bank and lending software platforms
