Position Summary: We are looking for a proactive and analytical professional to join our team as a Credit Specialist in Agricultural Lending. This role is crucial in evaluating new credit applications, making informed loan servicing decisions for current clients, and executing other vital credit responsibilities. The incumbent will conduct comprehensive financial assessments and underwriting across various crop and livestock sectors within our service area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze financial documents submitted for both formal and informal lending requests.
  • Gather, communicate, and assist in the collection of necessary financial information for processing lending requests.
  • Make informed credit decisions, either approving, declining, or escalating requests as necessary.
  • Assess the level of analysis and due diligence required based on the identified credit risk.
  • Classify accounts appropriately and evaluate the probability of default.
  • Effectively communicate credit decisions, terms, and findings through detailed written reports.
  • Establish conditions and requirements for loan closings.
  • Provide guidance on credit-related inquiries during the lending process.
  • Facilitate negotiations of credit agreements among stakeholders.
  • Develop tailored credit solutions to meet client needs.
  • Monitor the lending portfolio and loan performance, providing insights for loan classification.
  • Collaborate with sales teams and clients to address loan delinquencies and servicing requests.
  • Structure distressed credits to align with internal lending standards and client expectations.
  • Work with teams to create servicing plans for higher-risk client relationships.
  • Engage with clients to deliver quantitative assessments of their financial performance against industry standards.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of the agricultural sector through various educational resources and training opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in agricultural business, finance, economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a financial institution is preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations relevant to the financial industry and Farm Credit.
  • Understanding of agricultural operations, crop insurance, and livestock production practices.
  • Knowledge of loan products, services, and credit operations.
  • Proficient in credit processing, accounting principles, and credit analysis procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and CRM systems.
  • Effective decision-making and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
