Position Summary: We are looking for a proactive and analytical professional to join our credit team. This role involves evaluating new credit applications, making informed loan servicing decisions for current clients, and executing other vital credit responsibilities. The incumbent will conduct comprehensive financial assessments and underwriting across various agricultural sectors within Compeer's operational area. The position requires making credit determinations that align with established lending policies and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate financial documents submitted for both formal and informal lending requests.
  • Identify and gather necessary financial information to facilitate the processing of lending requests.
  • Make credit decisions, either approving or declining requests, or escalating them to higher authorities as needed.
  • Assess the level of analysis and due diligence required based on identified credit risks.
  • Classify accounts appropriately and assign probability of default ratings.
  • Communicate credit decisions, terms, and findings effectively through detailed reports.
  • Establish conditions and requirements for loan closures.
  • Address inquiries and provide guidance on credit-related matters during the lending process.
  • Assist in negotiating credit agreements among all parties involved.
  • Develop tailored credit solutions to meet client needs.
  • Monitor the lending portfolio and loan performance, providing insights for loan classification.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to create strategies for addressing loan delinquencies.
  • Structure solutions for stressed credits to align with internal lending standards and client expectations.
  • Work with teams to create servicing plans for higher-risk client relationships.
  • Engage with clients to provide assessments of their financial performance against industry standards.
  • Enhance knowledge of the agricultural sector by staying updated on industry trends and participating in relevant training and events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in agricultural business, finance, economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a financial institution is preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations relevant to the financial industry and Farm Credit.
  • Understanding of agricultural operations, crop insurance, and livestock industries.
  • Knowledge of loan products, services, and credit operations.
  • Proficiency in credit processing, accounting principles, and credit analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and CRM software.
  • Ability to make informed decisions and negotiate effectively.
  • Adaptability to changing situations and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
