Job Summary:

The Human Resources Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting our operation by managing and improving our recruitment and onboarding processes and serving as an employee resource for payroll and benefit related concerns. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for finding and integrating top talent into our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment:
    • Assist in developing and implementing recruitment strategies to attract high-quality candidates.
    • Post job openings on various job boards, social media platforms, and the company website.
    • Screen resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates.
    • Conduct initial phone screenings to assess candidate qualifications and fit.
    • Coordinate and schedule interviews with candidates and hiring managers.
    • Maintain and update the HRIS / applicant tracking system to ensure accurate and up-to-date candidate information.
    • Participate in career fairs and networking events to promote Stearns Companies and attract potential candidates.
    • Assist in creating and maintaining a talent pipeline for future hiring needs.
  • Onboarding:
    • Facilitate a smooth onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
    • Prepare and distribute onboarding materials, including offer letters, employment contracts, and new hire paperwork.
    • Coordinate with IT and other departments to ensure new hires have the necessary equipment and access on their first day.
    • Conduct new hire orientations to introduce company policies, procedures, and culture.
    • Monitor and follow up on new hire progress during their introductory period, providing support as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and company requirements.
  • General HR Support:
    • Assist in maintaining accurate employee records and HR documentation, including driver files.
    • Provide support for HR projects, payroll and other initiatives as needed.
    • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
    • Collaborate with the HR team to continuously improve HR processes.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in HR, with a focus on recruiting preferred.
  • Familiarity with HRIS, applicant tracking and payroll software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing dynamics
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal education or training in Human Resources or Business Management
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
  • Experience in the Towing, Repair, Transportation and Recovery industry.
  • Working knowledge of current employment laws and regulations.
