A "day in the life" of a Production Manager:

The Production Manager, using discretion and independent judgment is responsible for the overall efficiency, safety, and effectiveness of business unit. This is accomplished by effectively leading and coaching the team, creating a strong client service orientation, ensuring processes are followed, and maintaining a dynamic approach to project scheduling. The Product Manager has responsibility for the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the business unit as measured by established KPIs.


Project Management

  • Monitor and ensure standard processes are followed as defined by the project life cycle.
  • Plan and conduct project kickoff meetings with customer and internal staff.
  • Meet with Sales as needed to understand total scope of project and commitments made to customer.
  • Review and schedule all new projects with ability to forecast impact to current projects.
  • Revise production schedule as needed to reflect new projects, changes to current projects, and staffing availability.
  • Communicate changes to production schedule to staff, management team and others impacted by the changes.
  • Prepare reports as needed/requested to assist in resource, materials, and project planning.

Shop Floor Operations

  • Prepare reports as needed/requested to assist in resource, materials, and project planning.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized shop area.
  • Evaluate and adjust to optimal floor plan/cell production to meet needs.
  • Ensure safety protocols are being followed.

Customer Service

  • Maintain proactive, customer-centric approach when interacting with customers.
  • Maintain regular communication with the customer regarding status of project, questions, etc.
  • Handle all customer concerns with a sense of urgency and ownership.

Management

  • Provide regular feedback to shop floor team as a group and as individuals to promote a positive work environment.
  • Develop team; encourage and promote the learning of new skills.
  • Identify and address opportunities for improvement in best practices and processes supporting area of responsibility.
  • Escalate, as appropriate, concerns or issues that are or may impact team’s ability to operate at peak effectiveness.


Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

What we need from you to be our next Production Manager:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in a flexible cell-based manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Outlook/Microsoft Office products; with high level of proficiency in Excel.
  • Previous experience managing non-exempt staff in a shop environment.
  • Must hold valid driver’s license.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Preferred Requirements:

  • 4 year, post high school degree in related field
  • Previous experience in working in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience with modular floor planning
  • Knowledge of CSIA and/or ISO standards

Work Environment:

Work environment is industrial with exposure to a moderate level of noise. Daily operations in work environment include the use of electric tools, cranes, and forklifts. May be exposed to fumes and airborne particles. Must be able to move freely between aisles of parts, equipment, shelving units. Must be able to carry or lift at least 25 pounds.
