JOB SUMMARY

RMS Inc. is looking for a Purchasing Manager to join our team. The primary function of the Purchasing Manager is to purchase items in their assigned commodities to meet the quality and delivery requirements as well as look for potential saving opportunities. This individual should possess a background in procurement and materials management with experience in a mechanical production environment and have purchasing management experience.

Procurement, Quality ISO & Approved Supplier Procedures

  • Knowledge and experience with QMS principles and ISO 9001.
  • Contract Negotiations & Order placement.
  • Supplier Development Strategies.

PRIMARY ROLE RESONSIBILTIES:

  • High level person able to understand shop workflow processes / routings.
  • Has a background in ordering raw materials, forgings and support outside operations.
  • Able to read cad and interpret cad drawings and customer specifications.
  • Has purchasing management experience.
  • Qualifying suppliers.
  • Managing and maintain ASL to customer approved suppliers
  • Proficient with Microsoft suit.
  • Understand ERP software.
  • Able to perform tactical placement of purchase orders.
  • Manage open orders and on time deliveries.
  • Manage site inventory’s Subassemblies / raw materials.
  • Purchasing in a mechanical environment.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineered mechanical drawings.
  • Strong organizational, communication and computer skills required.
  • Know how to create and review contracts
  • JOBBOSS experience a plus, but not required
  • Quality costs aligned with business goals
  • Willingness to “roll-up sleeves” to get the job done vs. delegating up or down the organization.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education in business or related field
  • CPM Certification a plus

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years’ experience in Purchasing, Materials Management and planning.
  • Experienced in procuring, expediting and managing: Raw Material, MRO, Stampings, Engraving, Pipe and fittings as well as many other industrial items.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • The position is based in RMS’s Tomball, TX facility.
  • Travel time to visit vendors as needed, 5% to 10%.
  • This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends may be required based on project needs.
  • This position may be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
  • Ability to act professionally under stressful situations.
  • Able to understand, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Must possess valid driver’s license
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Work Environment:

Office Environment on a regular basis. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may perform work in a shop environment and will be exposed to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe, and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise and metal particles.
