About the Position
The Director of Operations role is a critical leadership role in creating a culture focused on operational excellence and improving overall consistency with execution, best practices and building a strong operational talent skill across the board. The Director of Operations will lead the operations of identified site within VitalPath and will be accountable for the development and execution of a manufacturing operations strategy to sustain growth, optimizes facility utilization, drives continuous improvement in all processes and generates world-class customer satisfaction with exceptional product quality. 

Responsibilities
The Director of Operations will be a strong leader capable of creating a strong culture across the organization while displaying qualities such as managerial excellence, accountability, and integrity.

The Director of Operations will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Have a hands-on leadership role at the assigned site within VitalPath leading the operations team toward a world class culture and performance. Hire, retain and develop the best team members for the organization and strives to coach & mentor the entire manufacturing team in order to drive manufacturing KPI’s and improvements at the site.
  • Create and execute lean manufacturing strategies to increase manufacturing flexibility, decrease costs, and increase inventory turns and productivity.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the manufacturing team in the execution of top-level improvement priorities and meeting or exceeding key performance indicators, as identified.
  • Drive the communication of best practices between sales, supply chain, engineering, finance and manufacturing to improve response times, develop accurate and competitive pricing, and assure customer satisfaction (quality, OTD to customer request date & service).
  • Work closely with Human Resources in identifying and implementing programs and activities that drive the development and retention of the manufacturing team.
  • Ensure that business is conducted with the highest standards of quality, safety, and integrity.
  • Take ownership of the ERP system’s production capabilities and drive actions to have the whole manufacturing team getting trained and make a successful use of it.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to jointly own of the MRP within the ERP system in order to drive the organization to a level loaded manufacturing in order to assure headcount resources are within the budgeted levels (monthly, quarterly and yearly)
  • Possess a complete understanding of the manufacturing department’s financial results including gross margin on a monthly basis.  Collaborate with Finance team members for development of respective annual budget and monitoring results compared to budget on a monthly basis
  • Develop relationships/maintain close contact with the top 10 customers regarding the deliveries, change orders and shipments.
  • Support all other departments with their needs in the course of business and drives the cross-over activities to make the consolidated company successful.
  • Create and monitors MBO for direct and indirect reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience with progressive growth
  • Ability to travel to other VitalPath sites as needed
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools such as 5S, Flow, Standard Work, Takt time, Value Stream Mapping, etc
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to successfully work to reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required of this position.
