RI Title Human Resources Technician/HR Data and Payroll
Job Description The Human Resources Technician works within the HR Data and Payroll Services division and is responsible for the timely and accurate payroll processing for assigned state department(s) with complex work schedules and payroll rules. The individual in this position will audit and process timesheets in accordance with time and attendance rules to include complex scheduling, overtime, and a variety of other compensation and incentive payments.
The incumbent should be detail-orientated, demonstrate a high level of accuracy, and possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills. The successful candidate should be comfortable adapting to change and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with federal and Rhode Island payroll and wage and hour laws is preferred. Business and fiscal management acumen, proven HR skills and competencies, and the ability to interpret collective bargaining requirements as they relate to the payroll function is desirable.
The successful candidate should have a minimum of an associate's degree in public administration, human resources management, or a related field, with two years' experience in a payroll function. Familiarity with the organization of state government and the function of state departments and agencies is a plus. This is a temporary position, with an estimated duration of 18-months, that reports to the Deputy Personnel Administrator of HR Data and Payroll and works on-site in Providence, RI.
