Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT) seeks a Production and Materials Specialist to support the execution of STEAM activities and student program KITS. The Production and Materials Specialist manages and tracks materials used in kit production and supports with nurturing volunteer relationships and organizing volunteer workspace. As part of the Operations team, this role will also support the store retail team as needed.

Sample of duties include but are not limited to:


  • Performs tasks such as processing, kit building, bar coding, inventory, QA, etc. as directed by the Production Director. 
  • Supports volunteers with questions and provides direction on tasks to maintain volunteers engaged and productive.
  • Setup and breakdown of volunteer stations, including cleaning, organizing, etc.
  • Maintains volunteer room and production areas to be neat and organized to reflect RAFT’s brand image.
  • Leads purchased inventory receiving and processing – getting material ready for the sales floor.
  • Understands RAFT’s mission and clearly communicate RAFT’s value and impact to volunteers.
  • Understands RAFT’s STEAM Learning Activity Kit Catalog and produces kits independently as well as support volunteers and store staff with production.
  • Manages and tracks materials used in kit production, including retrieving materials from or putting materials back in storage.
  • Performs inventory cycle counts.
  • Stocking lead for STEAM Activity Kits and purchased inventory on the store floor.
  • ERP (NetSuite) support for the Production Director (BOMs, Purchasing, Inventory).
  • Support offsite RAFT volunteer events as needed.


Qualifications & Skills:


  • Effective event administration and people management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works well under tight deadlines and able to prioritize multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be available to work one weekend day per week


Required Education and Experience:


  • 1 or more years of warehouse, volunteer coordination, or similar experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


RAFT helps bridge the education gap for students and communities by offering engaging STEAM resources to encourage the next generation of innovators, problem solvers, and creators. RAFTs this by providing STEAM Project Kits, Maker Mobile van visits, and makerspace builds STEAM summer camps, tailored educator workshops, and free online learning activity sheets. RAFTs unique found engineering process repurposes donated materials that would have otherwise been sent to the landfill into accessible, low-cost STEAM Project Kits and assembled by volunteers. Educators, and now parents, can become RAFT members and shop at the warehouse store facility for affordable items devoted to hands-on learning.
