RIE Coatings is hiring a full-time Purchasing Manager This on-site position can be located at any of our plants in Eden Valley, MN, Dubuque, IA, or Albuquerque, NM.


What You'll Do:

This role will be responsible for the overall strategy and development of the supply base, purchasing materials, and MRO items required to operate all RIE facilities. To be successful in this role, you will be highly skilled at building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, customers, and stakeholders, possess strong negotiation and communication skills, and be highly analytical. Frequent travel to other locations is required to assist with inventory, training, etc. Travel expectations are up to 40% depending on business needs.


Key responsibilities for the Purchasing Manager include (but are not limited to):

  • Identifies and selects vendors to procure commodities meeting criteria of price, quality, quantity, availability, and delivery dates.
  • Develop and implement purchasing processes that utilize MRP systems while coordinating and executing purchases and delivery for coatings, chemicals, services, and supplies for all facilities, according to budgets, either directly or through designated order release persons.
  • Manage inbound and outbound freight and logistics for all locations, driving shipment efficiency and managing costs within budgeted amounts by establishing preferred carriers for specified lanes.
  • Manage and enhance processes that manage and maintain inventories to minimize spend and inventories while ensuring needed items are available when required.
  • Responsible for monthly physical inventory counts and associated supporting documentation.
  • Maintain an approved and controlled supply base, documenting the appropriate method of qualification for each group of suppliers.
  • Manage a supplier development program driving improvements in cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain purchasing program policies and procedures according to governing agency requirements and company expectations.

Requirements:

You will need a degree in Business or another related field and at least 3 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a production or manufacturing environment. You will also need experience with vendor management, negotiating, Microsoft Office products, and an ERP/MRP system.
