JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process starting with employee set-up through issuing of paycheck and all relevant reporting and filings, utilizing expertise in the Dayforce HCM application. This includes processing electronic and manual time records, editing data, and providing payroll reports. Additionally, this role is cross trained on all duties the payroll manager performs relating to payroll administration.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. There are many necessary activities to satisfy any of the following performance guidelines.

  • Provide assistance to all Lunds & Byerlys team members modeling company customer service standards at all times
  • Efficiently process and manage payroll activities using Dayforce HCM software, ensuring smooth and accurate payroll operations
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll for all employees, adhering to company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and regulatory requirements
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues promptly, ensuring employee satisfaction and compliance
  • Respond to employee and management inquiries related to payroll matters with professionalism and confidentiality, providing accurate information and support
  • Review and verify Dayforce HCM timekeeping records for accuracy and compliance
  • Stay up to date on enhancements to the Dayforce HCM system and implement best practices for payroll processing, optimization, efficiency, and accuracy
  • Collaborate with the Employee Experience (EX) team to ensure the seamless integration of business processes between EX and payroll functions, facilitating efficient workflow
  • Provide support to Finance, Employee Experience, and management regarding payroll transactions and information, ensuring alignment and accuracy
  • Develop, modify, and generate reports for internal and external users as required, utilizing advanced reporting tools and techniques
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of various financial reports, requiring the selection and interpretation of payroll data to provide meaningful insights
  • Audit and prepare payroll reports and assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual payroll taxes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Compile, prepare, and maintain various payroll records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for audits and reviews
  • Act as a liaison with auditors as needed, providing necessary documentation and information
  • Lead the year-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of W-2s, year-end tax filings, and compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all union agreements and related reporting requirements, ensuring accurate and timely union reporting
  • Provide detailed payroll data and respond to inquiries related to payroll for bank reconciliations, ensuring alignment between payroll records and bank statements
  • Mentor and provide training for payroll associates and administrators as needed, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Education
    1. Associate's degree in business administration or equivalent
  2. License
    1. FPC or CCP preferred
  3. Experience
    1. Five or more years of payroll experience
    2. Prior experience administering payroll in a union setting preferred
    3. Payroll and/or human capital management (HCM) systems experience; Dayforce experience preferred
  4. LFHI Competencies expected of all employees include: action oriented, communicates effectively, customer focus and instills trust.

    5. Proficient in using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word, with advanced computer skills to manage and analyze payroll data
    6. Demonstrates strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills, capable of managing complex payroll processes and data
    7. Knowledge of HCM systems, payroll data structures, and reporting tools, ensuring efficient and accurate payroll processing
    8. Understands state and federal employment and tax laws, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
    9. Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate work assignments and projects within the department, ensuring timely and efficient completion
    10. Analyzes, explains, and determines solutions to complex payroll issues, providing clear and effective resolutions
    11. Demonstrates the ability to meet deadlines consistently, managing time effectively to ensure timely completion of payroll tasks
    12. Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English
