As a Senior Financial Reporting Specialist, you will oversee the accounting for fringe benefits and payroll.
Your primary responsibilities will encompass the development of comprehensive fringe rates across the University, alongside the analysis and reporting of fringe benefits, payroll expenditures, and student financial aid allocations.
Moreover, you will be tasked with conducting balance sheet reconciliations, approving journal entries, and preparing detailed financial statement fluctuation analyses as well as year-end audit documentation.
As a member of the Controller's Office, your contributions will be vital in promoting effective financial operations throughout various departments, colleges, and campuses. Our focus is on precision and cost efficiency, ensuring that essential financial data is available for informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Support University Department Fringe Benefits and Payroll Processes (25%)
- Investigate and resolve TDX tickets.
- Process necessary correcting journal entries.
- Fulfill information requests from central Human Resource and Budget offices related to fringe and payroll.
- Engage in special projects as assigned.
2. Execute External and Internal University-wide Financial Reporting Tasks (25%)
- Prepare journal entries and supporting calculations.
- Develop audit lead schedules and variance analyses.
- Draft footnote disclosures.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
3. Assist the Office of Student Finance Financial Processes (15%)
- Conduct analyses and reporting on student financial aid funds.
- Prepare financial aid draw and administrative cost allowance requests.
- Provide financial section information for federal reporting.
- Engage in special projects as assigned.
4. Develop Fringe Benefit Rates for University Departments (20%)
- Perform financial analysis and reporting on fringe benefit and payroll costs.
- Initiate related journal entries and financial statement adjustments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accuracy in fringe benefit and payroll processes.
- Engage in special projects as assigned.
5. Prepare and Approve Departmental Journal Entries in General Ledger (5%)
- Prepare journal entries and related calculations.
- Communicate with departments to resolve issues.
6. Prepare and/or Review Balance Sheet Account Analysis as Assigned (10%)

Qualifications:
Required:
- Proficient understanding and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Strong analytical skills to assess the implications of detailed processes and transactions.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities with a capacity for independent troubleshooting.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Advanced skills in spreadsheets and databases.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of five years of experience in GAAP accounting and financial reporting.
Preferred:
- Experience in financial reporting within a non-profit or higher education context.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (PeopleSoft/Oracle, SAP) and related reporting tools.
- CPA designation is preferred.
