The Child Development Manager provides support and oversees child development staff in the planning and implementation of Early Head Start/Head Start and Early Head Start Child Care Partnership Program. This role manages a designated geographic area with specific sites in the context of a management team and oversees high quality services provided by teaching staff to enrolled children. Services include screening, assessment, individualization, child outcomes tracking and coordination of overall comprehensive child development, mental health, disabilities, nutrition, health, and parent and child development.

Job Duties

  • Oversees the implementation of and monitors the delivery and quality of department services
  • Reviews records and documentation and observes the delivery of high-quality services/ teaching practices.
  • Assure that services meet the department and program requirements, are comprehensive, appropriate, and delivered within the established timelines.
  • In collaboration with Director and program staff, develops policies and procedures that clearly detail the specific tasks and steps required of all staff to implement program service goals and objectives. (Performance Standards)
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to linguistic, cultural, social, economic, individual, and role differences among persons and families served
  • Helps design and implement staff training.
  • Helps with the development of new programs to meet identified community needs and with the identification of resources to support them.
  • Networks with public school/ community agencies to address unmet needs of participating families.
  • Provides supervision, which is regular, reflective, and collaborative in nature.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required- Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years experience is required, including
    • ECE program in lead preschool/kindergarten role
    • Supervision Experience
  • Knowledge of DAP and Bilingual Education
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Ability to speak, write, and read Spanish is preferred
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid, Food handlers’ card, and Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Functional knowledge of Daycare Licensing Requirements
  • Knowledge of Department of Child Safety reporting mandates
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License
  • Registered vehicle with valid auto insurance
