We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Business Development to lead our efforts in expanding market share and revenue growth in the ready-to-cook meat products sector. Reporting directly to the Chief Sales Officer, the Director of Business Development will be responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives to drive sales and build strong partnerships within the retail and foodservice industries.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to achieve sales targets and profitability goals.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with key decision-makers at national & regional chains, industrial processors, retail chains, and broadline distributors.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with prospective clients to secure new business opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with the Innovation team to design compelling and trend-supported offerings that provide value to new and current customers.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and competitive insights.
- Inspire and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless product launches and ongoing support for customers.
- Monitor industry developments and regulatory changes that may impact business operations.
- Assist in developing a forward-looking sales strategy utilizing current and new capabilities that structures Martin Foods for long-term success.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ proven track record required in business development or sales roles within the food industry, preferably with a focus on meat products.
- Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and expanding market presence.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience in contract management and deal structuring.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
- Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of market dynamics and consumer behavior in the food sector.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in launching new products or brands in the food industry.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Previous experience managing a team of sales or business development professionals.
