The Inventory and Quality Supervisor will oversee the activity the Quality Assurance and Inventory Control departments.  This position will oversee warehousing, shipping, receiving, and handling of products, identify discrepancies, complete actions necessary to resolve discrepancies.

You will be responsible for...

 

  • Ensure proper product movement and implementation of policies/procedures regarding picking, packing, shipping, receiving and replenishment management.
  • Proactively manage actions and projects to minimize downtime, product handling, product presentation, and line delivery.
  • Assist and maintain appropriate inventory levels and product loss control within the warehouse.
  • Train personnel on proper procedures required for their role.
  • Ensure constant improvements by reviewing practices, methods, and processes; make recommendations and changes on any opportunities to improve.
  • Maintain warehouse and material storage areas by organizing floor space, adhering to storage design principles, and identifying and implementing warehouse system improvements.
  • Manage day-to-day activity within products management teams including planning, material flow, and resource allocation.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, develop team members within the department, monitor productivity, work quality, performance, and time and attendance.
  • Maintain a comprehensive system that will provide accuracy of material transactions and proper handling of all aspects of facility-related inventory.
  • Responsible for overseeing Non-Conforming Material Review as it relates to Product Control.
  • Log receiving discrepancies into the Company’s WMS.
  • Communicate and follow up with suppliers regarding their treatment preference on the discrepancies.
  • Communicate discrepancies and potential impact to customer supply as result of the discrepancies to the Sales and Order Management department.
  • Resolve the receiving discrepancies in accordance with supplier and customer instructions by either scrapping the product, preparing the product as a vendor return, or prepare the product for shipment to customers.
  • Prepare a log of incidents by suppliers and track supplier performance, including timeliness of delivery.
  • Perform review of Receiving schedules to identify products likely to be received each day and track whether the product was delivered.
  • Prepare report for Management related to overall vendor performance.
  • Follow ISO/TL9000 requirements as it pertains to position.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, develop staff to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Collaborate with representatives from various functional groups.
  • Facilitate all root cause analysis/investigations, internal/external, with defective (or non-conforming) operations issues, via data, facts, and objective reasoning.
  • Identify preventive action to address inventory discrepancies and systemic issues as related to overall inventory management.
  • Assist in preparation for and the performance of both internal and external audits.
  • Ensure developed standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation are being managed properly.
  • Maintain open and clear communication with Sr. leadership team on encountered issues and challenges preventing successful completion of business goals and objectives.
  • Supervise end to end inspection process from Receiving, In-line Production, to Shipping along with customer field incidents.
  • Facilitate planning and development of assurance/ control systems for specified products or processes across the enterprise.

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Previous retail or warehouse experience is preferred
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent detail orientation and organization skills; strong administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present department information in an easy to understand and engaging manner.
  • Able to interpret data, evaluate alternative solutions, and reach logical conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.
  • Assertive, self-starter, requiring minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work off shift and extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to use a pallet jack.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present department information in an easy to understand and engaging manner.
  • Problem solving skills; able to analyze situations, including ability to spot issues in efficiency/productivity and suggest improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams
  • Detailed oriented; excellent organizational skills; ability to think strategically as well as address tactical business requirements..
  • Motivate staff towards goal attainment, monitor progress towards desired objectives.

This position supervises all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management of the employees within that department.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  Normal business days are Monday through Friday, work hours will be assigned in advance.  Applicable overtime scheduled as needed.

 Work Environment

This position works in a warehouse/distribution center setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment and can be loud.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and maneuver around pallets.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
