Overview

The Logistics Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in the effective coordination and execution of shipping orders. This position entails the meticulous handling of materials, strict adherence to safety protocols, and ensuring timely shipments to achieve the objectives of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees and directs the activities of personnel engaged in verifying and maintaining records on outgoing shipments while preparing items for dispatch.
  • Guarantees the efficient and timely initiation of daily shipping operations.
  • Aligns department staffing to meet daily shipping demands and optimize operational efficiencies.
  • Facilitates the loading of outbound shipments through the designated system, ensuring accurate printing of pick tickets and proper order assignments for shipment; confirms correct truck loading through appropriate weight distribution.
  • Manages the movement of shipments from the shipping platform to storage and operational areas.
  • Accurately verifies and records all items loaded for shipments in accordance with customer orders.
  • Alerts supervisors to significant discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions and processes return shipments as required.
  • Collaborates with the Warehouse Manager on product rotation, space allocation, and ensures adherence to first-in, first-out (FIFO) stock rotation practices.
  • Maintains a comprehensive database of shipment data to ensure customer orders are updated and that necessary billing documents are provided to accounting or related departments.
  • Communicates with Production Managers regarding bulk product and inventory supplies.
  • Adds value by addressing employee inquiries and concerns related to operations.
  • Assists in achieving daily goals and requirements as needed.
  • Ensures all shipping personnel are trained in and comply with all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinates training for new and existing employees to minimize downtime and prevent product damage.
  • Maintains radio communication with other departments/employees to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
  • Effectively communicates, administers, and enforces company policies and procedures consistently through timely and constructive feedback.
  • Assigns tasks to pickers and loaders, along with other necessary assignments.
  • Handles return merchandise authorizations (RMAs), including inventory counts and necessary adjustments.
  • Exhibits regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of three (3+) years of relevant experience required.
  • State motor vehicle operator's permit for forklift operation is highly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
  • Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify received items.
  • Basic understanding of shipping, dock, and warehouse procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management software for record maintenance, data entry, and report generation.
