SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Amidst the quiet phase in the institution's most ambitious and successful comprehensive campaign, the Annual Fund Manager plays a critical role in strengthening the culture of philanthropy, while increasing unrestricted current-use support. The Annual Fund Manager is responsible for growing the donor base, renewing and upgrading donor support, and strengthening relationships with current annual fund donors resulting in increased philanthropic support to the Academy.

The ideal candidate will balance an entrepreneurial spirit with a best-practice approach. They will be an enthusiastic team player committed to growing the annual fund in the context of the comprehensive campaign.

This is a 12-month, exempt position reporting to the Director of Individual Giving.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

  • Create a multi-year strategic plan to grow the annual fund with the context of the comprehensive $100m campaign.
  • Determine overall annual giving goals for dollars, donors, participation, and the component goals for various constituencies by building strategic and tactical plans for achieving these goals fiscally.
  • Execute a family engagement strategy to increase participation and total giving.
  • Develop annual solicitation messaging and marketing appeals. Supervises the production and mailing of all printed and electronic solicitation pieces.
  • Coordinate, analyze, and monitor annual fund data and progress towards goals adjusting strategy as needed.
  • Manage annual fund volunteer groups who assist with outreach and stewardship.
  • Cultivate and build upon the existing base of donors amongst all constituents: alumni, parents, parents of alumni, grandparents, faculty/staff, and friends.
  • Oversee the strategy and execution of Founder's Day, Worcester Academy's Day of Giving, in coordination with the full Advancement team and campus partners.
  • Support preparation of Annual Report including proofing of various donor listings.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet or exceed annual fund dollar goal and other determined metrics, in partnership with the Leadership Giving staff
  • Reimagine WA's student philanthropy programming to educate students about staying connected.
  • Communicate donor impact creatively to annual fund donors.
  • Ensure the consistent and persistent presence of annual fund messaging throughout communication tools, including events.
  • Assist in the development of events and programs. These include but are not limited to cultivation and recognition events, reunion.

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelors' Degree or equivalent with 1-3 years experience managing an annual fund with progressive leadership responsibility
  • Strong technology skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel), Apple software/Google docs, and experience with Raiser's Edge or like software is preferred.
