This position reports to the Health Information Management (HIM), Manager.

This position is hourly (non-exempt).

Position Summary:

  • This position must feel comfortable interacting with physicians and case managers
  • Must be competent in diagnosis coding rules and able to identify clinical criteria to help validate diagnoses
  • Must be able to assist providers with documenting to the highest level of specificity in medical record
  • Must be able to query the provider when there is a conflict or inconsistency between clinical criteria and physician documentation
  • Help provider appeal denials concurrently through peer-to-peer or written appeal
  • This is not a remote position

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Licensed RN or LPN with 5 years experience and certified coder

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Clinical coding with certification
  • Excellent oral and written communication

Licensure, registration and certification:

  • RN or LPN
