Job DescriptionJob Description

Position Overview: Manage after-school programs, including the BIPOC Young Critics Arena and Student Playwrights Program. Oversee Voices of Now's external relations, logistics, and programmatic management. Serve as a teaching artist and curriculum specialist for summer camp.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching Artist Management:

  • Manage and coordinate teaching artists for after-school programs and workshops.
  • Assist in training and supporting teaching artists.
  • Lead teaching, directing, and devising with specific Voices of Now ensembles.

Coordination and Administration:

  • Oversee Voices of Now School/Community ensembles, managing program administration, budget, and reporting.
  • Collaborate on external relations to foster partnerships and collaborations.
  • Plan and manage logistics for the Voices of Now Festival, coordinating with internal departments and external partnerships.

Relationship Management:

  • Manage relationships with public, charter, and private school systems.
  • Collaborate with principals and teachers to enhance educational initiatives.
  • Represent Community Engagement at various events.

Supervision and Mentorship:

  • Provide mentorship and supervision to Community Engagement BIPOC Allen Lee Hughes Fellows.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BFA/BS in Theater, Education, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in theater education or a classroom environment.
  • First Aid training and passing Public School background checks required.
  • Familiarity with DC, Maryland, and Virginia school systems is a plus.

Skills Required:

  • Experienced educator, preferably at the middle/high school level.
  • Excellent organizational, logistical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with diverse community groups.
  • Proficiency in artistic collaboration, including directing, devising, and playwriting.
  • Ability to create lesson plans, manage budgets, and prioritize multiple projects.
