Position Summary:

The Content Specialist produces and distributes timely, accurate content for the FASB, GASB, and FAF under the supervision of the Content Operations Manager. This includes but is not limited to documents, online products, XML, and website updates. They support internal and external users of the content. The Content Specialist is responsible for ingesting content into the publishing platform, reviewing content for compliance with house styles and designs, incorporating reviews and feedback, and distributing content in its final format(s). They also support ongoing development of the publishing platform with testing.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support all phases of the content lifecycle to deliver timely, accurate content.
    • For due process documents, FASB Accounting Standards Codification (ASC), and GASB Governmental Accounting Research System (GARS):
      • Support authoring, including baseline content requests.
      • Set up products and ingest content into the publishing platform.
      • Enforce content quality control and compliance with house styles and designs.
      • Coordinate author reviews and approvals.
      • Produce electronic feedback forms and electronic input forms.
      • Publish and distribute documents, FASB ASC, and GASB GARS updates according to dates in the publishing calendar.
      • Package and distribute licensee updates.
      • Perform post-publication work including maintenance updates, annual roll-off, and emergency fixes.
    • For FASB, GASB, and FAF website updates:
      • Support authoring, including creation of new pages.
      • Ingest and stage updates for author review.
      • Enforce content quality control and compliance with house styles and designs.
      • Publish content to websites.
      • Maintain logs and reports to track updates to the sites.
  • Provide external user support.
    • Licensees:
      • Provide access to distribution site upon request.
      • Distribute DTDs, baseline content, and documentation.
    • Websites:
      • Work with Content Operations Manager to report and resolve reported issues.
  • Contribute to ongoing maintenance and development of the publishing platform, content architecture, and processes.
    • Perform user acceptance testing.
    • Review documentation of new features and functionality.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience producing content required.
  • For document-related work, experience with Adobe Suite (InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator) and other print production tools required.
  • For XML work, knowledge of structured content and DITA XML is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Strong communication, project management, organization, and self-management skills.
  • Understanding of accounting standards is helpful, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
