The Executive Chef at Ovide, an upscale dining experience at Hotel Effie, is responsible for leading the culinary team to deliver exceptional, high-end dining experiences. This position requires a passionate, innovative leader with an eye for detail, capable of designing and executing a dynamic menu that reflects the restaurant’s sophisticated style. The Executive Chef will oversee food preparation, staff management, inventory control, and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in the kitchen. The role demands a balance between creativity, operational excellence, and leadership. Hotel Effie is located at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a signature menu with innovative, upscale dishes in line with Ovide’s brand and guest expectations.
- Manage and lead the kitchen team, including sous chefs, line cooks, and kitchen staff, to ensure optimal performance.
- Oversee the daily food preparation, cooking, and plating to maintain high-quality standards and consistency.
- Monitor kitchen operations to ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Work closely with front-of-house management to ensure seamless coordination between kitchen and dining operations.
- Control and manage food costs, inventory, and waste, ensuring budgetary goals are met.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment that encourages growth and development of kitchen staff.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source the best quality ingredients while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Ensure the kitchen and equipment are maintained and cleaned according to hygiene standards.
- Stay current on food trends, seasonal ingredients, and guest preferences to update the menu regularly.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours) during shifts.
- Work in a hot, fast-paced environment with exposure to kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, and grills.
- Lift, carry, or move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.), including food supplies and kitchen equipment.
- Perform repetitive motions such as chopping, stirring, and preparing food items.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations, including handling multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Executive Chef in an upscale or fine dining establishment.
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience required.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and training kitchen staff.
- Expertise in menu creation, food costing, and inventory management.
- Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
