Job Summary:
The QA/QC Specialist is responsible for providing the Quality Department with technical support for projects, such as performing quality tasks and documentation. This person will be a resource for the Quality Department rendering hands-on assistance and must have knowledge of creating and maintaining project specific completion books. This position must be able to read and understand different client expectations.

 


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Capable of reading and understanding client documentation and requirements
  • Capable of attending client weekly update and schedule meetings, office and or call-ins.
  • Read and understand construction drawings, fabrication drawings (ISO's), and piping and instrumentation drawings (P&ID's).
  • Create bubble prints, inspection plans and other quality documents for new and existing projects.
  • Address quality issues on specific projects
  • Review documentation to ensure accuracy, formatting, spelling, and grammar.
  • Responsible for accurate documentation and efficient retrieval of data related to quality
  • Communicate regularly with clients and vendors.
  • Prepares time reports and other records
  • Work assignments are carried out to the highest quality level.




Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable on Redlining (P&ID's) and redlining as built drawings (ISO's)
  • Knowledgeable on creating and maintaining a Welding, Welder and NDE log
  • Knowledgeable in creating and maintaining a project completion book. Containing SOW, NDE, NDE Procedure, Welding Procedures, ISO's, MTR's, Torque Sheets, Hydro test package, Redlines, and HDPE data log reports.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Basic computer skills utilizing various programs in Microsoft Office Suite; must possess ability to learn company or industry specific applications
  • Must be able to occasionally work extended hours, including weekends, as needed
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence to clients and internally.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to make effective and timely decisions.
  • Very strong organizational skills: ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy

 

 

Education & Experience:

Basic

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of QA/QC field experience in oil/petrochemical or similar industries with an emphasis on process pipe, pipeline and/or pressure vessel work.
  • Current CWI certification
  • Valid Driver’s License

Physical Requirements

The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job (but are not limited to). The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods of time, unassisted. The incumbent must wear a respirator when required. Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate industrial machinery are required. This job also requires a full range of body motion to include handling and lifting. The incumbent must repeatedly lift and/or move up to 65 (SIXTY-FIVE) pounds unassisted. Visual acuity, hearing, speaking, reading, and writing must be adequate to perform all required tasks safely.

 

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Work is usually done outdoors and sometimes at a client facility or job site and is frequently performed in inclement and/or extreme weather conditions. The incumbent is exposed to moving electricity, mechanical parts, vehicles, equipment, and hazardous materials. This position regularly requires long work hours and frequent weekend work.
