Job Overview

Position Summary

The Graphics Quality Control (QC) Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Technical Information Management Branch by meticulously reviewing and providing constructive feedback on illustrations, engineering drawings, and solid models in accordance with established standards and timelines.

Educational Background and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field, or a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in quality assurance for graphic design, technical illustration, computer-aided design, electronic file management, and Technical Data Package (TDP) oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate all incoming illustrations, engineering drawings, and solid models submitted to the designated shared mailbox.
  • Conduct reviews in accordance with ASME Y14, S1000D specifications, MIL-STD-31000A, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Provide timely feedback to requestors regarding necessary revisions or rejections based on quality control assessments.
  • Ensure all Electronic Signature (ESIG) forms received are acknowledged and processed for final approval as per established guidelines.
  • Maintain organized records of all correspondence related to QC approvals and disapprovals.
  • Consult with the Government Technical Lead on any standards or quality-related issues that arise.
  • Act as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for all graphics QC and standardization inquiries.
  • Oversee configuration management for all TDPs in compliance with relevant guidelines.
  • Initiate all ESIGs for engineering drawings and track their progress throughout the workflow.
  • Assign appropriate drawing numbers and respond to requests promptly.
  • Conduct drawing checkouts and verification procedures, ensuring timely responses to requestors.
  • Upon final approval, upload approved drawings into the designated system within the specified timeframe.
  • Assign RAD numbers and ensure prompt communication with requestors.
  • Adhere to the following priority schedules for processing requests:
    1. MPC Illustration QC requests – completed within one (1) business day.
    2. All other Illustration QC requests – completed within two (2) business days.
    3. Engineering Drawing QC requests via ESIG form – completed within one (1) business day.
    4. Expedited Parts requests – addressed immediately, not exceeding one (1) business day.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with ASME Y14 Standards, S1000D, and MIL-STD-31000.
  • Proficient in relevant software and processes to effectively address evaluation and compliance issues related to graphic materials.
  • Understanding of S1000D and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) is preferred.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and TEAMS.
  • Experience with PTC ArborText IsoDraw and Adobe Acrobat is highly desirable.
