Position SummaryThe Inventory Control Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring precise inventory management through regular audits, receiving, storing, and cataloging incoming materials. This position is responsible for distributing the correct products and quantities based on requisition data.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and maintain accurate perpetual inventory counts and accuracy assessments.
- Reduce excess stock and eliminate obsolete materials to optimize working capital.
- Receive, unpack, count, inspect, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure proper documentation and management of incoming products in accordance with company protocols.
- Inspect all incoming materials against purchase orders, documenting and addressing any discrepancies or damages.
- Organize items systematically in warehouses, tool rooms, and supply areas for easy access.
- Conduct inspections of stock items for wear or defects, reporting issues to supervisors.
- Label materials and equipment using appropriate identification methods.
- Distribute materials and products based on requisition information.
- Maintain records related to stock usage and damage.
- Keep accurate inventory control records to manage costs and ensure appropriate stock levels.
- Collaborate with purchasing teams and vendors regarding stock procurement and availability.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in storage areas and shipping/receiving zones.
- No formal education required.
- Preferred experience with inventory management software and resolving inventory-related issues.
- Understanding of materials, equipment, and supplies acquired through purchasing.
- Familiarity with storeroom operations and procurement processes.
- Knowledge of ERP systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Capability to respond swiftly to emergency situations to ensure safety.
- Proficient in operating necessary tools and equipment.
- Forklift Operator Certification.
- Scissor Lift Operation Certification.
This role requires medium physical exertion, including:
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 20 to 50 pounds.
- Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity tasks.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Employees will work in both indoor and outdoor conditions, with exposure to:
- Well-lit, climate-controlled environments.
- Occasional outdoor weather conditions.
- Potential exposure to dust, fumes, and moving mechanical parts.
