Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the transportation department, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in all processes.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and provide guidance to the team of motor coach operators and support staff.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and high customer service standards.
Fleet Management:
- Manage the maintenance and repair schedule for the fleet of motor coaches, ensuring all vehicles are in safe and operational condition.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff and external vendors for timely and cost-effective repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance and inspections.
Customer Service:
- Address customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and timely manner to ensure high standards of customer service are maintained.
- Implement strategies to enhance the customer experience and improve satisfaction.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and other applicable laws.
- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to minimize risk and ensure the safety of passengers and staff.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the transportation department budget, ensuring cost control and efficient resource allocation.
- Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality.
- Prepare regular financial reports and performance summaries for senior management.
Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans for the transportation department.
- Identify opportunities for growth and expansion of services.
- Collaborate with senior management to align departmental goals with the overall company vision.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in transportation operations management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation industry standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in managing a fleet of motor coaches or similar vehicles.
- Certification in transportation or logistics management.
- Familiarity with route planning and scheduling software.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.
- Capable of conducting vehicle inspections and visiting maintenance facilities.
- Good vision and hearing, with or without corrective devices.
