Director of Sales Job Description:
As a Director of Sales, you will be responsible for leading and growing our inside and outside dealer sales teams. This role is crucial in driving revenue growth, developing sales strategies, and ensuring exceptional customer service. You will report directly to the Business Line Leader and play a key role in maintaining efficient sales operations within the department. The ideal candidate will have a blend of sales expertise, leadership skills, and industry knowledge, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing sales team.

What you’ll do as the Director of Sales:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies aligned with company goals
  • Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities and drive revenue growth
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize pricing strategies and maximize profitability
  • Work closely with other departments such as Marketing, Product Management, and Operations to align sales efforts with overall business objectives and ensure efficient processes
  • Handle escalated customer issues and maintain relationships with key accounts
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell products to existing customers
  • Collaborate with your Product Management peer to communicate Voice of the Customer and be aware of new product development
  • Set clear performance expectations and goals for team members
  • Monitor and analyze individual and team performance metrics
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and create individual development plans when necessary
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance product knowledge and sales skills
  • Identify, hire, and onboard new sales team members as needed, ensuring they have the skills and attributes to succeed in the role
  • Review and analyze sales dashboards, customer reports, and other relevant data
  • Prepare and present regular sales performance reports to upper management


What you’ll bring to the Director of Sales role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; or significant experience demonstrating people and sales management
  • 5+ years of sales experience, preferably in the outdoor power equipment or related industry
  • 2+ years of sales management experience
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and make data-driven decisions
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving team performance
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and deliver effective presentations at the executive level
  • Customer-focused approach with a talent for building and maintaining relationships
