The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for managing the company’s accounts payable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Invoice Processing: Review and verify invoices for accuracy, ensuring proper coding and approval before processing for payment.

- Payment Processing: Prepare and process payments to vendors, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and completed in a timely manner.

- Vendor Management: Maintain positive relationships with vendors, addressing any payment discrepancies, and managing vendor inquiries.

- Expense Reports: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and proper documentation.

- Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger monthly, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.

- Record Keeping: Maintain organized records of invoices, payments, and other financial documents in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

- Reporting: Assist in preparing accounts payable reports and summaries as needed for management review.

- Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant regulations.

 

Qualifications:

- Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Relevant certifications or coursework is a plus.

- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable or similar accounting role. Experience in the agriculture industry is a plus.

Skills:

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable processes.

- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word).

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving issues.

- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and vendors.
