Fast-paced manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to work in one of three assigned manufacturing areas. As the Manufacturing Quality Engineer, you will report to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Execute quality initiatives in an assigned area of the plant
  • Focus primarily on manufacturing quality improvements
  • Lead root cause analysis for quality issues and collaborate with team members to establish corrective actions
  • Communicate with customers on the status of quality issues and deliver quality updates and corrective action goals
  • Complete control plans, inspection instructions and gage instructions and assist with PPAP and APQP documentation
  • Support launch activity in the assigned area of the plant
  • Verify supplier quality issues and supply needed information to the SQE group
  • Set up SPC (statistical process control)
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement projects based on metrics related to scrap reductions and efficiency improvements, resulting in measurable cost savings
  • Other duties as directed by management

Candidates should be able to communicate at all levels and be able to build rapport on the manufacturing floor. The qualified individual will be self-motivated, organized, be able to work independently and within a team, enjoy floor presence (up to 50% of their day) and be flexible with changing priorities. REQUIREMENTS for the Manufacturing Quality Engineer:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a technical field OR relevant/related work experience in lieu of a degree
  2. At least 2-5 years of work experience in a similar quality engineering role; strong co-op and/or internship experience will be considered
  3. Experience performing quality engineering functions in manufacturing environments, ideally fast-paced, continuous processes
  4. Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions
  5. General knowledge of control plans
  6. Working knowledge of SPC (statistical process control)
  7. Working knowledge of quality hand tools (examples include micrometers, calipers, etc.)
  8. Microsoft Office

Skills preferred but NOT required:

  1. Injection molding and/or electrical components
  2. Automotive supplier experience
  3. Quality customer communication
  4. Minitab
  5. Internal auditing experience
