Job Summary:

Compass Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Air Quality Engineer with Environmental knowledge, skills, and abilities to support the U.S. Navy’s Aircraft Environmental Support Office (AESO). AESO is responsible for supporting the Navy and Marine Corps with reliable aircraft emission information for basing aircraft and meeting regulatory requirements. This position has an added emphasis on addressing air quality topics associated with aircraft operations, and requires a familiarity with standards for air quality and environmental control. The candidate will be working in a team environment, and must have the ability to perform independent analysis and evaluations on various technical and regulatory issues. The job tasks may require knowledge from many technical fields and engineering/scientific disciplines. The candidate shall have the capability to apply knowledge from a variety of standard guides, precedents, methods, techniques, and practices as well as the ability to implement innovative processes. The desired candidate must be able to plan, coordinate and investigate various unknown factors independently and provide detailed oriented reporting of findings.


Essential Job Functions:

This position is for a Senior Air Quality Engineer with duties focused on performing aircraft emissions estimates and related tasks for environmental compliance purposes. Experience in the following areas of responsibilities is desired:

  • Assess and improve existing aircraft air quality systems, ensuring they meet standards and regulations.
  • Provide regulatory and policy guidance, development, implementation, data analysis and reporting.
  • Provide overarching in-depth review and assessment on program acquisition documentation and technical support in the areas of AESO compliance and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Executive Orders as applicable.
  • Assist in the preparation of NEPA documentation.

Other Job Functions:

  • Perform emissions calculations, air emission dispersion modeling, air emission dispersion modeling and gaseous and particulate emission measurements.
  • Assist in the development and management of emissions database.
  • Perform Python and LabVIEW programming.
  • Familiar with USN Data Acquisition Systems.
Requirements:

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Preferred current/active Secret Security Clearance. Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance is mandatory.
  • The candidate must have a BS or MS degree and has worked in the environmental field for a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the areas of listed responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to learn and apply new information and/or skills. Must be able to interpret data, information, and documents. Occasionally will need to move and/or lift up to 45lbs. Moderate environment temperature and noise level.
