Job Summary:

The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling, disassembling, testing, and debugging of complex vacuum components.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Custom assembly of vacuum beam line components including electrical wiring, soldering and/or heating while adhering to a specified set of blueprints.
  • Conduct meticulous inspections, test completed equipment to verify functionality, safety, and conformance to specifications, using testing instruments and software.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace faulty components of the machinery during and after the assembly process to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Apply lubricants and other treatments to assembled products to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
  • Document assembly processes, including recording serial numbers of components used, problems encountered, and solutions applied, to maintain accurate production records.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges for ensuring components mesh seamlessly and function as designed.
  • Keep all equipment and work areas clean and free of debris.
  • Ability to effectively interface with team members and individuals with technical discussions and solutions.
  • Assist with shipping functions, including building skids and/or crates as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to use overhead cranes, handheld power tools, power tools, measuring tools, leak tester, soldering iron, and scope.

Work Environment:  Manufacturing setting with loud noise due to ultra sonic cleaner at times; exposure to and use of chemicals such as acetone, alcohol, and nitrogen oxide.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to perform operations of manual dexterity.
  • Eyesight vision of, or corrected to, 20/20.
  • Standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time when fabricating equipment.
  • Wear protective safety gear such as gloves, safety glasses, and a mask when working on machinery.

 Travel Required:  None.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years of mechanical assembly experience required.
