Position Summary:
The Vacuum Component Assembly Technician plays a crucial role in the assembly, disassembly, testing, and troubleshooting of intricate vacuum systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform custom assembly of vacuum beam line components, including electrical connections, soldering, and heating, while strictly following a detailed set of blueprints.
- Conduct thorough inspections and tests on completed equipment to ensure functionality, safety, and adherence to specifications, utilizing various testing instruments and software.
- Make adjustments, repairs, or replacements of defective components during and after the assembly process to ensure optimal machinery performance.
- Apply lubricants and other treatments to finished products to promote proper operation and longevity.
- Maintain detailed documentation of assembly processes, including recording serial numbers of components, issues encountered, and solutions implemented, to uphold accurate production records.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and meet customer expectations.
- Utilize precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to guarantee components fit together seamlessly and function as intended.
- Keep work areas and equipment clean and organized.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and engage in technical discussions to find solutions.
- Assist with shipping tasks, including constructing skids and crates as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Proficient soldering skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, blueprints, and schematics.

- Proficient in using overhead cranes, handheld power tools, measuring instruments, leak testers, soldering irons, and scopes.
Work Environment: The position is set in a manufacturing environment that may involve exposure to loud noises from ultrasonic cleaners and various chemicals.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Capability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Vision acuity of 20/20, or corrected to 20/20.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while fabricating equipment.
- Must wear protective safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, and masks when operating machinery.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- An associate degree in mechanical engineering is preferred.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in mechanical assembly is required.
