Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPOSITION OVERVIEW

The Technical Service and Development Technologist – Silicone Elastomers role is responsible for increasing sales in BU Silicone Elastomers industry through direct customer application design and development using CHT materials. The position will require ~50% travel to customers, trade shows and conferences, where presentations, posters or papers are presented. The other 50% is required in the Richmond, VA facility working on customer projects and application development. Some travel to Germany for training, sales and development meetings may be required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Position requires ~ 50% travel, including international trips, occasionally 3 weeks per month may be required.
  • Provide technical support to silicone elastomer customers through on-site visits, conference calls, and email communications.
  • Author white papers, conferences/speaking engagements, and videos.
  • Consult and support marketing in tool/document development.
  • Laboratory work in Richmond includes crosspollinate the EU/U. S products and application successes.
  • Attend monthly lab development meetings and weekly R&D meetings, when not traveling to gain a more fundamental understanding of the CHT products and chemistry.
  • Weekly technical Jour Fixe.
  • Support distributors with joint customer visits and training as required.
  • Consult and communicate regularly with technical service colleagues.
  • May require travel to Tubingen, Germany as needed for training and global meetings.
  • Maintain understanding of competitive landscape.
  • All other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSEducation & Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in chemistry or related field preferred
  2. Similar silicone elastomers related experience (preferred)
  3. Prior experience presenting technical papers, posters & talks at industry trade shows and conferences
Knowledge & Skills
  1. Capable of working independently to manage day-to-day tasks
    1. Advanced user type understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 & Suites: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
    2. Familiarity with an ERP solution (i.e. SAP, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics ERP, etc.)
    3. Creativity in approaching complex challenges and problems
