Who Your Internal Customers Are and How This Role Delivers Value to Them:

  • Senior Leadership Team: Provides accurate and timely financial reports, offering insights and recommendations that inform strategic decisions and drive company growth.
  • Finance Leadership Team: Collaborates with the G/L and FP&A teams to improve the accuracy of financial results, forecasts and budgets, and assists in issue resolution. Analyzes variances and provides actionable insights to ensure alignment with financial goals and operational plans, helping to manage expenses and optimize revenue.
  • Operational Accounting & Accounts Receivable Team: Leads, mentors, and develops the team, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring high standards of accuracy and efficiency. Implements process improvements and automation to streamline accounting operations, particularly in processing pay for the fleet, reducing manual workloads and increasing productivity.
  • Operations and Dispatch Team: Collaborates with operations and dispatch to ensure financial data integrity and compliance with internal controls.
  • Owner-Operators & Subcontractors: Ensures all are paid accurately and timely, maintaining trust and satisfaction. Manages payment processes, addresses payment issues promptly, and communicates clearly regarding their compensation.

By overseeing operational accounting, optimizing internal controls, and driving process enhancements, the Manager of Operational Accounting is pivotal in ensuring financial integrity and operational efficiency, ultimately empowering informed decision-making and strategic growth across the business:

  • Ensure accurate recording of transactions.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and ensure on-time collections.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and controls.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

By optimizing liquidity, mitigating financial risks, and maximizing returns on investments, the Manager of Operational Accounting creates financial resilience, ensuring sufficient funds to meet operational needs while driving profitability and facilitating long-term growth initiatives:

  • Support the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Liaise with external auditors to facilitate audits and address findings.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and cash management activities.

By identifying inefficiencies, streamlining workflows, and implementing automation solutions, the Manager of Operational Accounting will enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity, ultimately fostering a culture of continuous improvement that enables the business to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape:

  • Leverage automation to accelerate existing processes and improve analyses.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.
  • Continually develop and expand accounting processes within the ERP system (NetSuite).

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, including working at other highly acquisitive companies
  • Prior experience working with NetSuite or other major accounting ERP
  • Experience using advanced Excel functions, with an interest and ability to work with large amounts of data
  • Experience mentoring and leading a team
  • Self-starter with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions
