Assistant Facilities Manager Overview: 

College Housing Northwest (CHNW) is seeking a full-time, exempt Assistant Facilities Manager, working with teams across all six communities in our portfolio.  We have three communities in or near downtown Portland, OR and three communities on the eastside.  To learn more about our locations, please click here.  Founded in 1969, CHNW owns and operates supportive housing communities uniquely tailored to students, with supportive programs and mission-driven focus on reducing their financial burden.  This role directly supports the Facilities Manager and plays an important part in assuring successful maintenance services to our residents.  


Assistant Facilities Manager Duties:

  • Diagnoses, repairs and performs maintenance tasks personally and delegates to technicians and vendors
  • Oversees and inspects work performed by maintenance technicians and vendors
  • Reviews and coordinates the completion of work orders, apartment turns, and repairs on schedule
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of pertinent laws, including EPA and OSHA regulations governing proper storage and management of hazardous materials
  • Instructs staff on proper use and guidelines for personal protective equipment and safety items
  • Participates in hiring, training, and supervision of maintenance staff
  • Assists leadership with the development of procedures, protocols, and training manuals
  • Maintains adequate inventory of parts and materials to be prepared for most situations 


Assistant Facilities Manager Benefits:

Assistant Facilities Manager Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree is not required, but is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in property maintenance across multiple sites
  • 2 years of management/supervisory experience
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC
  • Experience with managing staff/vendor schedules and workflows
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management software
  • Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT) or equivalent, Certified Manager of Maintenance (CMM) or equivalent is not required, but is a plus
  • Valid and current driver’s license (this position requires travel between communities)
