Position Summary

Laser Shot is looking for an Estimator to fill a critical position within our Mechanical Division for Metal buildings. The Estimator will prepare proposal estimates and quotes to produce our modular shooting ranges and other products from the specifications of our Military and Law Enforcement customers. The Estimator must have a thorough knowledge of metal fabrication and be able to answer internal and external inquiries about both product and pricing information. Estimators are responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project. Estimators must aggressively follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received. Estimators also work with the Project Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversees the estimating activates of all bids originating out the principal office. Attends all pre-bid meetings and construction walk-through as required.
• Accountable for timely, accurate and profitable bid submissions.
• Responsible for the coordination and management of all pre-bid and bid-day activates and tasks.
• Responsible for the development and delivery of all bids and estimates at the principal office.
• Reviews bid documents and proposals as necessary and provides feedback and recommendations to upper management
• Assembles and tabulates estimating information to deliver formal bids
• Works with administrative personnel to ensure accuracy of bid information

Skills Needed:

• 2 years of estimating experience
• Bachelors of science degree in engineering or similar technical field of expertise
• An understanding of engineering drawings, and specifications, and the ability to coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines is required
• Be able to maintain multiple bids and deadlines
• Able to handle entire bid process from preparation of bid to project kick-off including handling all subcontractors and vendors
• In depth knowledge of construction industry and estimating process
Understanding of project forecasting and projections
• Ability to read blueprints and project/structural design interpretation
CAD drawing knowledge a huge plus (reading and development)
• Experience with Metal Building fabrication and armor plating a plus
