Job Description:


The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing advanced, specialized and administrative HR duties. This position requires a high level of confidentiality and accuracy. This is a full-time salaried exempt position working 12 months per year: Monday-Friday during the school year and shortened work weeks in the summer.


This position reports to the President and is classified as full-time salaried, exempt.


NOTE: This is not a State of Delaware position.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct recruiting, screening, interviewing and hiring for all JDG positions
  • Develop and administer wage and salary structure in conjunction with the President
  • Perform benefits negotiations and serve as benefits administrator
  • Administer worker’s compensation, disability, and FMLA claims
  • Provide new employee orientation alongside the training coordinator
  • Establish and maintain JDG employee database and personnel files
  • Administer the HR aspects of the JDG Teacher certification process
  • Assess employees’ job satisfaction and report findings to President
  • Analyze HR trends and metrics, and advise management
  • Review, develop, revise and implement corporate policies and procedures
  • Develop and revise job descriptions
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures and with any relevant federal, state and/or local laws and regulations
  • Prepare and maintain various staffing reports as requested
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and staff on HR-related issues
  • Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Respond to management and staff inquiries regarding JDG policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance and input on workforce restructures, planning and succession
  • Work closely with the Director of Finance on certain human resources duties
  • Conduct HR training for management and staff


Requirements:

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in human resources or a related field
  • Five (5) years recent full-time work experience in a relevant field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficiency in virtual meeting environments including Zoom
  • Ability to organize and manage complex duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Acceptable results from a criminal background check
  • Acceptable results from a PPD (TB) test
  • Acceptable results from JDG’s drug screening
  • Acceptable results from Delaware’s Child Protection Registry
  • Acceptable results from the National Sex Offender Registry

Preferred

  • Previous non-profit work experience
  • Knowledge of the education field and terminology
  • SHRM Certification
