Key Responsibilities

The role of a Human Resources Consultant encompasses the application of HR theories, principles, and models to facilitate the administration of HR functions. You will utilize your knowledge, discretion, and independent judgment to interpret HR laws, regulations, and policies while addressing various HR activities and challenges. Your work will often involve reviewing, evaluating, and consulting on specific actions, collaborating with employees, supervisors, and management to ensure compliance with HR standards and procedures.

The following are essential functions of this role:

Provide guidance and recommendations to employees and management based on findings, regulations, and policies affecting the HR domain. Depending on the size of the assigned department, you may specialize in one or more HR functions or serve as a generalist across all HR areas. Ensure adherence to state and federal HR laws and regulations. Analyze inquiries and challenges, assess their impact on the organization, and propose viable solutions. Communicate and support HR-related actions and recommendations effectively. Report any workplace risk management issues to leadership. Conduct research, collect, and analyze data from various sources, documenting findings in both narrative and statistical formats. Utilize automated HR information systems to research and report on data, performing quality reviews as necessary. Undertake special assignments and studies as required. Participate in interviews, meetings, and presentations. May involve calculating and resolving discrepancies related to payroll data.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for Human Resources Consultant I
Candidates must demonstrate competence in the following areas:

1. Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:

A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.

OR

One year of professional experience in human resources.

OR

Two years of experience in paraprofessional or administrative support roles within HR. A Statewide HR Certification or professional HR certification may substitute for one year of experience.
