About the Position:

We are currently seeking a high energy, self-starting individual to supervise a Residential Program in Brooklyn, New York. A person's managerial and clinical skills will be maximized in an interdisciplinary team environment, where there is ongoing support and training.


The Residential Supervisor is responsible for providing staff training, mentoring, and supervision of 10-25 direct and/or indirect reports, or varying based on program needs. The Supervisor will need to provide program oversight, quality assurance, maintain NYS regulations, oversee clinical programming, be an advocate for the people we support, and be a liaison with families.

The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for working directly with people of all ages with Intellectual & Developmental disabilities, and creating new opportunities for Living, Loving, Working, & Learning. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Supervisor to work with this active group of people, who has the ability to handle challenging situations with patience and understanding.

Program Description
Bragg Street IRA is located in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York. The Bragg Street program consists of two IRAs in a two-unit residential house where eight people with disabilities reside.  The Bragg St-Ground Level IRA consists of two ladies and the Bragg St-Upper Floors IRA consists of six people (4 ladies and 2 gentlemen). Their age range is from 36 years old to 60 years old.  The people we support at Bragg Street enjoy participating in many community activities which include, but are not limited to, community walks, food shopping, trips to the movies, trips to the park, etc.  They like to socialize with others, celebrate special occasions, travel, and enjoy games such as “Bingo,” and “UNO.” Some of them participate in acting classes, volunteer full time, work part time, and attend day program.  All eight people are independent with most of their daily living activities; some have the ability to travel independently in the community. Everyone here at Bragg Street is able to assertively communicate his/her wants and needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring health, safety, and habilitation of the people we support consistent with agency philosophy and
department practices.
- Ensuring the appropriate, therapeutically documented level of supervision in the residence, day program or community to ensure and protect the health and/or safety of the people we support.
- Providing program/floor coverage, when necessary.
- Promoting and maintaining the excellence of the programs
- Developing professional, empathic relationships with family members ensuring they are included in the team process. 
- Leading and facilitating interdisciplinary team meetings and staff meetings to ensure effective communication. 
-Attend regional and agency supervisor meeting or as directed by your supervisor.

-Attend and actively participating in the planning meeting for the people we support.

- Playing an active role in the hiring process; interviewing and selecting appropriate staff based on program needs
- Maintaining direct relationship with staff
- Building staff morale
- Fostering professional development through regular supervision, training, and evaluations.
- Supervising staff to ensure they are meeting the needs of the people we support and agency standards.
- Utilizing participatory management
- Fostering the Open-Door Policy
- Maintaining oversight and compliance of systems specific to role and responsibilities
- Fostering communication and maintaining professional between relevant supports including those within the program, within the agency, and supports outside the agency
- Overseeing all financial systems, maintaining records for the people we support and program expenditures.
- Operating the program within budgetary guidelines. 
- Maintaining a safe environment for staff and the people we support and reporting any hazardous conditions. 
- Ensuring the completion and maintenance of all paperwork and written records related to individual treatment. This includes but is not limited to medical records, treatment records, progress reports, data collection, behavior 
reports, incident reports, billing records, and all written communication systems.
- Reporting and monitoring incidents, as well as assist with the investigative process.
- Required to perform your responsibilities as they currently exist or may change in meeting the needs of the department, under the supervision of your supervisor/manager. 


Education and Experience:
- BA/BS strongly preferred 
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Prior Direct Support Professional experience required
- Background in supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities or mental health

- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Well-developed writing skills
- Takes initiative
- Highly flexible personality type
- Flexibility to respond to calls and programmatic needs beyond regular work hours
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to learn/use Workforce Management software to effectively carry out essential business processes

- Valid Driver's License

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm

Compensation

  • $62,400 / year
