Job Summary

The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for purchasing and supply chain management, such as acquiring, purchasing, expediting and negotiating materials. Performs operational work, orders processing, market research for all materials and services needed, both requisitioned and MRP related material.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Correspond with vendor/supplier and their contacts regarding request for quotes and purchases from CJ Bio internal customers;
  • Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine if they are compatible with company objectives;
  • Prepare, review, issue and track purchase orders, price changes, and system updates;
  • Monitor and report quality of goods by reviewing costs, schedules, timeliness of delivery, and conformance to specifications (score carding);
  • Communicate in depth with departments for their needs in materials.
  • Utilizes and trains others on the purchasing process of company software;
  • Material requirement planning of RM packaging material;
  • Coordinate logistics arrangements as needed
  • Invoice processing (customs, imports, materials and services);
  • Materials sourcing;
  • Responsible for domestic sourcing of raw materials, services, indirect materials and any other purchased products
  • Takes responsibility with inventory management for certain materials
  • Material reporting/forecasting;
  • Assist with the recruiting and registration of new vendors/suppliers;
  • Negotiates with vendors to obtain quotations, prices and delivery times;
  • Inventory control and maintaining safety stock of materials;
  • Assist and train coordinators or associates for PO/Invoice processing;
  • Analyze market conditions/generate reporting;
  • Participates in supplier verification programs
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the company and the outside markets and the skill to relate changes to impacts on the site.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, unless business needs require additional hours worked
  • This position does not supervise the work of others
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets and fax machine
  • This position may require travel
  • Ability to work in a stationary position for up to 90% of their shift
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs;
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree & 2 years of directly related experience

OR

  • Associate’s degree & 4 years of directly related experience

OR

  • High school diploma/GED & 6 years of directly related experience
  • CPM/CPSM certification preferred
  • Global purchasing experience preferred
