The Senior Purchasing Specialist is a critical position that executes proactive purchasing plans and leverages cutting-edge skills to optimize our supply chain. This pivotal role ensures seamless operations across our value streams by actively engaging in challenging tasks and improvement projects.

Here’s what you’ll do:

 

  • Utilize advanced techniques to maintain optimal inventory levels, ensuring continuous raw material availability while minimizing excess inventory. This includes establishing purchasing parameters, interpreting purchasing requirements, and creating, communicating, and managing purchase orders.

  • Work closely with vendors and suppliers to gather quotations, examine bids, and negotiate contracts to procure quality services and products promptly and cost-effectively.

  • Collaborate with planning managers, engineering, and production teams to analyze material requirements planning recommendations and develop efficient procurement strategies. Facilitate the movement of materials through the development, prototype, and production cycles, ensuring seamless operations.

  • Lead management of supplier and vendor relationships for the Chesterfield location to ensure improvement in performance (cost, quality, lead time, and customer service) while strengthening the long-term partnership.

  • Serve as a critical user of the ERP system's MRP functionality, soon-to-be SAP, ensuring its effective utilization to streamline procurement processes and enhance supply chain visibility.

  • Continuously assess market conditions and analyze data to recommend strategic procurement and materials management adjustments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and market dynamics.

  • Develop and present reports to support departmental needs, providing valuable insights to foster data-driven decision-making during meetings.

  • Manage inputs directly impacting procurement-related KPIs, such as inventory turns, stockout rate, COGS, inventory accuracy, raw material lead time, and supplier performance.

  • Leads efforts to identify procurement risks, works with the supply chain team to develop mitigation strategies, and with the procurement team to implement solutions.

  • Do you qualify?

     

    •  Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    •    Five years of experience in supply chain management
    •    Three plus years of experience in a procurement role, with a track record of implementing best-in-class practices and optimizing inventory levels, costs, and quality
    •    One plus years’ experience in a regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food, etc.)
    •    Experience in contract negotiations, leading cost negotiations, and vendor/supplier management activities
    •    Experience using the MRP module of a major ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, JD Edwards, MS Dynamics) as part of core job functions.
    •    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
    •    Preferred:
    o    APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification
    o    Exposure to Lean methodologies; desired Six Sigma Green Belt certification
    •    Great attention to detail
    •    Strong organizational skills
    •    Ability to multi-task on different projects while maintaining high-quality performance
    •    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
    •    Ability to work cross-functionally with a team, including engineering, regulatory, marketing, and manufacturing personnel
    •    Minimal travel; approximately
