POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Structural Engineer will take on a pivotal role as the primary Structural Engineer for designated projects while also providing support and peer evaluations for additional assignments.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop structures including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and healthcare environments.
  • Utilize and master the engineering software employed by Vestal Corporation to create comprehensive design packages.
  • Stay updated with the latest codes and industry standards.
  • Determine and assign appropriate loads to structures in accordance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive projects towards innovative and cost-efficient design solutions.
  • Conduct structural analysis on both steel and concrete systems.
  • Design and assess structural systems to meet local seismic regulations as necessary.
  • Research seismic criteria relevant to specific project locations.
  • Implement Lean design methodologies.
  • Maintain organized records of calculations and structural documentation for assigned projects.
  • Collaborate directly with project Lead CAD/Designers, engineers, and Project Managers to develop and refine structural system layouts and details.
  • Oversee design and construction processes utilizing various structural materials and systems.
  • Review contractor submissions and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during the construction phase.
  • Conduct site visits for pre-design evaluations and construction inspections as needed.
  • Mentor junior engineers and design staff.
  • Adhere to construction safety protocols.
  • Follow the company's Quality Control and Project Management procedures.
  • Foster a positive work environment to help achieve organizational objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is based in a Vestal Corporation office setting.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk are required, along with the ability to operate a computer and other office equipment. Movement within the office is necessary to access various resources.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering is mandatory.
  • A Professional Engineer License is required or the ability to obtain one.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is essential.
  • Familiarity with REVIT is advantageous.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be necessary.
  • A valid passport or the ability to obtain one is required.
