Philadelphia, United States Esperanza Health Center Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

DUTIES:

Configuration and Support

  • Maintain configuration of clinical applications (primarily AthenaPractice EHR, the EZAccess patient portal, and Visual Signature Capture form capture software). Work with IT and software vendors to address known issues.
  • Manage EHR interfaces to outside entities (including local health information exchange, health department vaccine repository, electronic prescribing clearinghouse, clinical laboratories, etc.).
  • Provide support off-hours and remotely to clinical staff when needed. IT will provide support for access to the software; clinical application support will be required when clinical software is not performing as expected, or when workflow needs mandate configuration changes.
  • Develop, document, and maintain a coherent approach to clinical application management that allows configuration to meet clinical workflow needs while minimizing maintenance burden.
  • Plan clinical software upgrades and installations in coordination with IT and clinical users, communicating clearly about changes that will affect end-users and patient care.

Performance and Process Improvement

  • Identify workflow and process improvements and assist in the development of tools to address identified needs (forms, quicktexts, etc.). Participate in EMR team meetings and provide status updates for ongoing projects. Work as a member of the team to coordinate the implementation of functionality enhancements to the EMR as needed by the health center and its programs.

Content Development

  • Assume responsibility for cataloging, developing, and maintaining data input forms/clinical content.
  • Collaborate with clinical departments and Information Technology (IT) to optimize performance and usability of clinical applications to support clinical workflows. This may include modification of existing and development of new EHR and tablet software form components. Work with Clinical Informatics staff to tailor software to enable data collection as needed to drive quality improvement, compliance with payor requirements, and operational decision making.

Training

  • Onboard and offboard clinical application users. Orient new users to basic use of clinical applications, in cooperation with their clinical manager who will orient to department-specific workflows. Assist in developing and providing end-user training after software upgrades when upgrades affect workflows.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Desire to embrace and further the mission of Esperanza Health Center required. In particular, this includes a desire to serve others, recognition of the importance of clear communication, integrity in time management and availability, and the willingness to recognize limitations and seek help when appropriate.
  • Either application support experience with exposure to a healthcare environment, OR healthcare experience with exposure to, demonstrated aptitude for, and interest in application support and programming are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related area (Computer Information Science, Information Technology, Network Administrator and Information Systems)
  • Coding experience (any programming language: Python, C/C++, Java, Javascript) preferred; in its absence, willingness to learn with demonstrated aptitude acceptable.
  • 2+ years of experience with EMR/EHR configuration and support.
  • Experience in using project management methodology such as Agile or Six Sigma to engage stakeholders, elicit requirements, implement changes, test, and refine interventions preferred.
  • Experience or interest in human factors engineering preferred.

Salaried position with a benefit package including vacation, sick, and holiday paid time off, medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage, retirement plan as well as life and long-term disability insurance.
